Be strong and courageous

Have you ever wished to be strong and courageous? Is it even possible to be strong and courageous in a world full of challenges?

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31,6

God spoke these words to the people of Israel when Moses appointed Joshua as his successor. The entering into the promised land has not yet happened. Maybe you are in a position, where your promised land lies before you. It could be your financial breakthrough, the healing you long for, the restoration of your marriage or a spouse, because you don’t want to go through life alone anylonger. Whatever it is, these words are for you today: be strong and courageous! But how do we do that? You find the answer in the second part of the verse: God himself will go with you! You don’t rely on your abilities to be strong and courageous, you rely on Jesus abilities. It’s the grace of God, that lets you be strong and courageous. Grace is personified in Jesus and he is the foundation you stand on as a believer.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1,9

Grace is the reason, why you don’t have to panic when you are confronted with challenges. The foundation of grace is not a shaky ground, it’s a solid and strong rock, it’s Jesus. The right perspective will let you be strong and courageous, you won’t be afraid and you won’t be discouraged. Jesus is your hero who fights the battles for you, changes situations and manifests Gods promises in your life.

You don’t get strong and courageous by trying hard to be strong and courageous. It needs you to admit, that you can’t do it on your own and you are dependent on the help of Jesus. Stop doing it on your own and let Jesus create his masterpiece. To do nothing and let Jesus take over might be more challenging than constantly trying to do something on your own. But it’s the way how the blessings of God will manifest in your life. To do nothing is to let go of your own effort and let Jesus do what he needs to do. You do that, by throwing Jesus into the problems you face, by speaking out Gods truth. Do it whenever you are reminded of the problem. Position yourself on the foundation of grace and see how Jesus calms the storms in your life.

Sei stark und mutig

Hast du dir auch schon gewünscht, dass du stark und mutig wärst? Ist es überhaupt möglich, in einer Welt die voller Herausforderungen ist stark und mutig zu sein?

Seid stark und mutig! Fürchtet euch nicht und lasst euch nicht vor ihnen grauen, denn der Herr, dein Gott, geht selbst mit dir; er wird dich nicht aufgeben noch dich verlassen! 5. Mose 31,6

Diese Worte sprach Gott zum Volk Israel, als Mose Josua als seinen Nachfolger einsetzte. Der Einzug ins verheissene Land lag noch vor ihnen. Vielleicht befindest du dich auch gerade in so einer Situation, in der das verheissene Land noch vor dir liegt. Das könnte dein finanzieller Durchbruch sein, die Heilung nach der du dich sehnst, die Wiederherstellung deiner Ehe oder einen Ehepartner weil du einfach nicht mehr alleine durchs Leben gehen willst. Was immer es ist, diese Worte gelten heute dir: sei stark und mutig! Aber wie stellen wir das bloss an? Die Antwort findest du im zweiten Teil des Verses: Gott selbst wird mit dir gehen! Du verlässt dich also nicht auf deine Fähigkeiten stark und mutig zu sein, sondern auf Jesu Fähigkeiten. Es ist die Gnade Gottes, die dich stark und mutig sein lässt. Gnade ist in der Person Jesu verkörpert und Er ist das Fundament auf dem du als Gläubiger stehst.

Siehe, ich habe dir geboten, dass du getrost und unverzagt seist. Lass dir nicht grauen und entsetze dich nicht; denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist mit dir in allem, was du tun wirst. Josua 1,9

Gnade ist der Grund, warum du nicht in Panik verfallen musst, wenn du mit Herausforderungen konfrontiert wirst. Das Fundament der Gnade ist kein schwammiger Untergrund, sondern ein fester und starker Fels, nämlich Jesus. Schaue nicht auf die Umstände, richte deinen Blick stattdessen auf Jesus. Wenn deine Perspektive stimmt, lässt dich das getrost und unverzagt sein, es wird dir nicht grauen und du wirst dich nicht entsetzen. Denn Jesus ist dein Held, der für dich die Kämpfe führt, Situationen verändert und Gottes Verheissungen in deinem Leben zum Vorschein bringt.

Stark und mutig wirst du nicht, indem du mit allen Mitteln versuchst stark und mutig zu sein. Es braucht dein Zugeben, dass du es alleine nicht schaffst und du auf die Hilfe Jesu angewiesen bist. Hör auf selber zu basteln und lass Jesus sein Meisterwerk erschaffen. Nichts zu tun und Jesus das Feld zu überlassen wird dich vielleicht mehr herausfordern als ständig selber etwas zu versuchen. Aber es ist der Weg, wie die Segnungen Gottes in deinem Leben zum Vorschein kommen. Nichts tun bedeutet, die eigenen Anstrengungen aufzugeben und stattdessen Jesus wirken zu lassen. Das tust du, indem du, wann immer du an das Problem in deinem Leben erinnert wirst, Jesus hineinwirfst, indem du die Wahrheiten Gottes aussprichst. Stell dich auf das Fundament der Gnade und sieh zu wie Jesus die Stürme in deinem Leben stillt.
